A company with a history of 78 years, Chatham House (Pvt) Ltd was incorporated on 6th July 1946 as a private limited liability company and has the distinction of being one of the founder members of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.

Healthcare Sector

Our entry into the Healthcare sector was further to a decision to diversify the business over three decades ago. Since then, the Medical Division of Chatham House (Pvt) Ltd has steadily evolved into our core area of business

Milestones

Pioneered the launch and distribution in Sri Lanka of Culture Media and connected equipment to the various specialized laboratories and hospitals in the country, to carry out In-Vitro Fertilization procedures (lVF) for the first time in Sri Lanka.

Pioneered the launch and distribution in Sri Lanka of - Holmium Laser Machine and the Combination Inter-corporeal Pneumatic and Ultrasonic Lithotripter for the fragmentation of kidney and bladder stones.

Pioneered the launch and distribution in Sri Lanka of the ECMO Machine (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenator) for the management of life threatening pulmonary and/or cardiac failure

Provided technical support for the use of the ECMO machine at the Kandy Teaching Hospital, during the first ever heart transplant surgery conducted in the country in 2018.

Infrastructure Development
Engineering Sector

For a greater part of our existence, our areas of expertise have been in the field of Infrastructure Development and Engineering. Our reputation eased the path for the Company to successfully secure major government infrastructure development projects in Sri Lanka funded by international agencies such as the KFW, World Bank and the ADB. Over the years, we are proud to have represented and had long-standing working relationships with prestigious international companies such as Westinghouse Electric Company, Allis Chalmers, Morrison Knudsen USA, Grun & Bilfinger AG, MAN B&W AG and J M Voith of Germany.

Milestones

The supply and installation of generators and associated equipment for the augmentation of the electricity supply to the city of Colombo in February 1948, to coincide with the celebrations to mark Sri Lanka’s independence from Britain. This was our first large scale business undertaking.

Execution of the Laxapana Hydro Electric Scheme Stage II B.

Supply of earth moving equipment for the Gal Oya Multi Purpose Project.

Supply of 30 Power Coaches to the Sri Lanka Railways.

Installation and commissioning of Hydro-Mechanical Equipment for the Randenigala 60MW HydroPower Project.

The supply, installation and commissioning of two 40MW Diesel Power Stations at Sapugaskande.

The supply, installation and commissioning machinery to the Textile Mills at Thulhiriya, Veyangoda and Mattegama, and two Paper Mills in Valachchenai and Embilipitiya.

Supply of Low Band mobile communication equipment and accessories to facilitate Ceylon Electricity Board breakdown services.

Supply and installation of solar net metering systems, providing solar energy solutions to the Sri Lanka Engineering Company(LECO) consumer base and other domestic consumers.

Installation and commissioning of 2 Nos 450 kVA Diesel Generators in offering a stand by power solution to Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Trincomalee under the Japan's Grant Aid for The Economic and Social Development Programme for The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (FY2016).
